Bulsa Sections

The data were collected between 1972 and 2009. The older ones might possibly need some correction.

Census data are rendered in an abbreviated form, e.g. 1960: 125/2867 = Ghana Census 1960: 125 compounds, 2867 inhabitants; 1948: 322 = Ghana Census 1948: 322 inhabitants

kisuk: “totem” animal (not killed and consumed)

R.S.: Prof. Rüdiger Schott;

The term “section” is quite popular in the Bulsa area, but it is by no means defined clearly. It may refer to a clan or lineage, especially so when it is derived from the name of a first ancestor. It may be an administrative unit under one kambonnaab, or it may be a geographical name for some compounds some distance away from the main part of the mother-section (e.g. Yipaala, “new houses”)
